Artist Description

Salt-worn Serenity

Salt-worn Serenity was inspired by an old boat I discovered while walking a nature trail
along Florida’s Gulf Coast near Clearwater. Resting quietly near the water,
weathered by sun, salt, and time, it seemed to carry the story of a life well
lived.

I was drawn to the peacefulness of the scene and the quiet character of
the aging boat. I imagined the journeys it had taken, the waters it had
traveled, and the stories it might tell. No longer venturing out upon the
water, it seemed content simply resting along the shore—a reminder that there
is beauty in things softened by time and a special kind of serenity in having
weathered the journey.

ARTISTS STATEMENT

I’m an artist in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, whose passion for art was ignited at a young age through my father’s talents in fabric design, painting, and photography.  I have always loved painting landscapes, and I found it was so calming for me to paint mountains, meadows, lakes and flowers and my first beautiful still life, “Copper Kettle” which I am so proud of.  More recently, I learned to paint portraits, very challenging, detailed and calls for a lot of concentration.  But I did it! And just completing my first one, the Young Geisha, made me so fulfilled, I wanted to do it again!

For me, creating a painting is pure joy and satisfaction!  I find inspiration in the beauty of nature that surrounds me, and I delight in the process of playing with colors and immersing myself in the creative flow.
