Artist Description

Naniwa Station invites viewers to consider how systems of movement—urban, biological, and ecological—share common patterns of connection, adaptation, and flow. Inspired by the historic district of Naniwa in Osaka, Japan, the work does not depict a specific place. Instead, it translates the logic of circulation, convergence, and transformation into sculptural form. Woven bands extend beyond the reflective surface, suggesting pathways that continue past the physical boundaries of the object. The mirror dissolves the distinction between sculpture, surrounding space, and viewer, creating the illusion of an unfolding network that extends beyond what is physically present.
