This is an oil on canvas. I used acrylic paint to color block and then painted over in oil using my palette knife and brush.
Artist Description
“I’m Still Fine” is one painting in a new series I’m working on called “Pink Skies”. It is a reflection of life after loss and how one has to move forward in order to overcome their grief. In this particular painting, you see a beachscape with a group of people off to the left and one sole figure walking down the beach away from them. With this painting, I hoped to capture the feeling of being in a room full of people and still feeling alone. The main character of the painting (the sole figure walking away) is grieving. She finds herself with a group of family and friends, whom she cares deeply for, having fun and hanging out on the beach which should be a joyous moment. Sometimes your grief demands that you take a second for yourself. Sometimes it’s good to be alone with your thoughts. In this painting, grief is used as an escape from the hustle and bustle of a fun moment in life just to prove to yourself that you’re still fine.
