Medium Description
Hand-cut stencils (traditional pochoir) monotype on paper
Artist Description
My hand-cut stencils (traditional pochoir) are featured on my monotype of the wooden watertower in Penland, North Carolina. I also honor its history in my “Ode to Penland’s Wooden Watertower,” which ends:
In Penland, North Carolina, where crafts are king and queen,
You are carefully crafted yourself, as aesthetic as utilitarian,
With gray patina on your weathered wooden shingles.
….
Your ladder tempts artists to climb, which of course they shouldn’t,
As you are Penland’s emergency water supply.
