Medium Description
Acrylics and watercolor crayons were used with this painting, along with a variety of techniques. I painted in a classic way and used a palette knife and credit card to work the surface of the lower half of the painting. The crayons highlighted the clouds and blended the grasses.
Artist Description
This painting is one of a series that I started recently after taking a pause from making art. (I blame the pause on a recent health scare, recovery and our unstable political climate.) I was attempting to experiment with the surface to create space while falling in love with the color mixing and textural details. This painting, like the others, wasn’t complete until I added the clouds of impending doom, suggesting a storm, smoke from a fire or some sort of threat. It is meant to set off alarms of unease or dread, making it hard to pretend that all is ok.
