Medium Description
“Quiet Structure is a fused paper collage. All papers used were created by the artist using acrylics, inks and various drawing materials. Unique textural effects were created on the papers using a variety of techniques: stamping, printing and scraping. The prepared papers are then cut or torn, arranged, overlapped and glued to the surface intuitively …creating a composition that has balance, depth, rhythm and a rich sense of history.
Artist Description
Quiet Structure reflects the subtle frameworks that exist beneath the surface—those unseen connections, rhythms, and patterns that give shape and meaning to experience. Built from fragments of hand-painted and textured papers, the collage explores how disparate elements can come together to create a sense of balance and belonging. No single fragment tells the story; meaning emerges through the relationships between them, as each layer contributes to a larger whole.
The title suggests that structure does not always announce itself through symmetry or order; sometimes it is found in the quiet relationships between things—the spaces between fragments, the layers of memory, the traces of what came before. Like the hidden architecture of a landscape, a musical composition, or a life itself, the work reveals a steady presence beneath the surface: a quiet structure that supports and connects.
