Garden Whimsy

Medium Description

I painted Garden Whimsy on handmade Italian watercolor paper using a mix of Beam and Winsor & Newton watercolors and a sepia-toned Uniball artist pen (.005 mm) for the detail and line work. I liked the idea of creating a shadow box around this illustration, so I incorporated the butterfly and sunflower stickers, a clipping from an art magazine, and added the gnome figurine and a small dried lavender bouquet. The shadow box itself is 8" x 10."

I enjoy creating whimsical illustrations that incorporate my love for nature with a light-hearted perspective. Garden Whimsy was a fun piece to put together, and creating the shadow box allowed me to add a variety of elements that highlighted the whimsical nature of this illustration.
