Artist Description

This is a piece for the unsettled mind looking for answers. At times of chaos and constant storms, we grow weary in the fear of them never ending. When times come like this we crave for the silence of our own space, but often the fear and uncertainty of another storm caves in. During our isolation we feel alone in our feelings, just as this single tree is. Though being the center of attention, the tree is not positioned in the center to represent the times we feel unbalanced. With the clouds starting to circle around it, the question is up to the viewer: is the tree’s isolation good or bad? No matter the answer, the piece conveys the hope that there is a Sprit that helps calms us in the midst of uncertainty and can help us remain stable. The word “-scape” is the ending of both the words “landscape” and “escape,” and are echoed here. In its circumstance the tree is overflowed with light as it becomes one with the land and sky, letting its leaves go wherever the wind blows.
