Artist Description

Through its intricate details and hidden elements, the vase invites viewers to slow down and notice the small wonders often overlooked in everyday life. Hidden among the hand-sculpted azalea flowers are frogs, lizards, and insects waiting to be discovered, encouraging viewers to look closer and uncover the quiet details woven throughout the piece. The natural world around us is filled with countless wonders that are easy to pass by. This vase was designed to create a moment of pause, inspiring curiosity, observation, and a renewed appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.

Composed of various elements this vase is inspired by the forest in the spring. Crafted from stoneware clay, each element of the surface was individually sculpted and built by hand. After bisque firing, the surface was painted with underglaze and finished with a clear glaze before undergoing its final glaze firing.
