Artist Description
A series of two paintings with the same subject: a woman looking through a window at an untouched table set with two chairs in the forest, while a shadowy figure stands before her like a reflection. Both paintings have different pink undertones, creating different moods.
One painting has the words ‘[that’s love right?]’ embroidered on it, expressing an inner thought or monologue. This piece has a hot-pink tone beneath the greens, blues, and peach, making it warm and vibrant, as if the sun is setting in the evening. In the other painting, there are no words, and the undertone is more pastel, making the piece calmer, dreamier, and feeling more like the beginning of the day or early afternoon, creating a sense of hope.
Together, the works create an inner thought that is always constant: wondering what love is and how it is supposed to feel. Is it more of a hot pink or a pastel pink? Should the figure take a seat in hope that someone will come, or will she be alone at the table? The work is hesitant to say.
