Spirit of Place: Cottonwood Trail

Artist Description

This expressive landscape is part of Spirit of Place series. Imagery is created from memory, capturing mood, light, and energy of a place and time.
My process focuses on finding imagery through use of expressive marks, lines, colors, while also emphasizing movement and energy. When I begin a painting, I quickly put down layers of marks using oil bars or pigment bars, then wipe off, repeating the process until finding a direction, contrasting the defined and the developed, against the loose, less finished areas.
