Roth's work is rooted in drawing and painting, balancing technical precision with keen observation and interpretation. He moves fluidly between tradition and contemporary inquiry. As a juror, he values technical achievement, authenticity, risk-taking, and a compelling artistic voice.

Since 2012, Roth has served on the faculty of the Fine Arts Center in Greenville, South Carolina, where he is currently Head of the Visual Arts Department. Prior appointments include The Ohio State University, Denison University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and The University of Georgia.

Roth's experience in New York City with Eli Wilner & Company included museum-quality framing work for institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, the White House, Yale University, the New-York Historical Society, Christie's, and Sotheby's.

Roth earned an MFA in Drawing and Painting from The University of Georgia, graduating cum laude, and a BFA from Valdosta State University, also cum laude. He was honored with the Outstanding Art Senior Award and the Tammy Lee Fortner Scholarship.

Roth has been awarded residencies at Vermont Studio Center, supported by multiple grants including the Metropolitan Arts Council Artist Grant, and at Ox-Bow School of Art, funded by the Joan Mitchell Foundation.

Roth's work has been exhibited in New York, throughout the Southeast, and internationally in Europe and China. He is an active member of the College Art Association and Foundation in Art: Theory and Education.
