My name is Eunah Choi, a ceramic artist from Korea with an M.A. in ceramics and over 32years of practice.
I have held many exhibitions in Korea and have won many awards at a national level competitions.
This piece was created by Eunah Choi and my works are not painted, instead I use a traditional Korean technique called Bakji (sgraffito). The design is formed by layering slips and hand-scraping the background to reveal organic lotus patterns, evoking a quiet sense of peace.
I’m drawn to natural lines and colors, so I blend traditional Korean coiling techniques with wheel throwing to form gentle and organic curves. Each pieces are subtly different, like people.
I created this piece by integrating traditional Korean techniques with inspiration drawn from ceramic forms I observed across various museums in the U.S.
I make each piece with the hope that you’ll feel a quiet sense of peace and happiness when you hold it.
