I spend many days designing the vessel in my mind before I enter the studio. Both the beginning and the end of the vessel are critical to visualize before I start the actual physical act of creation of the piece. I visualize in advance the color, texture, proportions, and form. The colors and shapes must generate harmony and balance. While my pieces are small, the form must give a sense of space.
I want to create vessels that give people as much pleasure to view as they give me to create. The eye of the viewers must be drawn to and through the piece so they can enjoy the beauty of the object. The thrill of creating unique pieces energizes me. Each new vessel gives me ideas for additional new creations.
