Venus is a 2025 composition from my Aura drawing series, a set of pieces where I use luminous illustration to visualize each core of my persona. Venus gets its name from the Roman goddess and word for “beauty,” which I use to convey myself in this piece. This self-portrait represents the part of me that is not only physical but spiritually vivid and loving for all things pure. My beauty is a special part of my soul because it is natural. God has blessed me with a bright mind, a calm fiery spirit, and a passion for true love. I always see how my Venus connects to my love for nature and tranquility, but most importantly to people. As a young black woman, I also set it connect to my heritage and color. This composition is as luminous as the others in the suite,  but shines in more amorous colors. While we often associate those with sexual nature, I wanted to show them as symbols for genuine love and comfort. This image shines in velvet and green all in an airy atmosphere, as if I was dancing through the sky of the planet itself. With my Venus, I feel exquisite.
