I’m a
textile artist who is inspired by the world around me, especially by nature. I
look at my surroundings with inquisitive eyes and mind, with curiosity, knowing
there are hidden treasures to be found and turned into art.

My art is my
attempt to recreate the beauty of the world with fabric, a journey I started as
I was searching for a way to channel my creative side into something I would
enjoy.  This has become so much bigger
than I expected. It has opened my eyes to a new level of appreciation for the
beautiful world around me.  It has also
challenged me to learn new skills, to expand my creativity, to discover talents
I did not know I had.

My artistic
approach is mostly intuitive with a constant awareness of color combination and
contrast.  The use of strong colors is a
direct influence of my Brazilian heritage. Using fabric as the medium to create
my art pieces was a natural choice since I have been working with them since my
teenage years.

The creative
process usually starts with visualizing the piece in my mind. The second phase
is transforming what I visualized into actual artwork. It requires selecting
fabrics as close as possible to my vision, adjusting, and sometimes, starting
all over again.  It is a process that
involves many steps from beginning to completion.

I learn
something new with each piece that I create.
It is an interesting and fulfilling process that I enjoy and look
forward to every day.
