Artist Description
In Transparent Trio, I transformed a simple arrangement of Ball jars into a luminous study of glass, color, and fleeting winter light. Each painting can take several days to complete, so capturing the fleeting sunlight with photos is important. This one was taken indoors with a window providing crisp backlight. I paint by layering multiple glazes of transparent watercolor, allowing each to dry thoroughly before the next. Transparent Trio exemplifies this method which builds the deep blue and rich shadows, while preserving the radiant glow of the white paper beneath. Complementary color harmonies heighten the vibrancy: warm orange tones shimmer behind the jars, dancing against the cool blue glass. I used this piece to display the compelling interplay of light and darkness, inviting viewers to linger in its quiet brilliance.
