This work is an exploration of transformation, vulnerability, and connection. Using heat as both a destructive and creative force, I burned and melted holes—one by one—into three layers of synthetic paper. Each mark is intentional. Each void a portal. Through these openings, color and flow emerge, guided by alcohol inks that seep, spread, and settle into the scars of the surface.
The layers are then sewn to canvas with gold thread—a deliberate act of mending and meaning. The gold is symbolic: a shared thread that binds us, a reminder of the beauty in our interconnectedness. As the viewer peers through the layers, they glimpse not just texture and color, but metaphor—how we reveal and conceal, how our inner selves peek through the surfaces we present.
This piece invites reflection on the complexity of identity and the quiet resilience that holds us together. It’s about the spaces between, the stories beneath, and the golden ties that unite us all.
