This portrait is of my grandmother. Through this painting, I reflect on the beauty of growing older- not as a process of loss, but as one marked by wisdom, resilience, and a lifetime of experiences. Using pencil and oil paint, I emphasize both the impermanence of the body and the permanence of memory. This portrait celebrates the strength, independence, and quiet resilience I have admired in her throughout my lifetime.
