As part of my series, The Interior is Political: A Series of Surreal Paintings Exploring Mental Health and Power, this piece depicts the bleak future of climate change and late stage capitalism. The background is composed of printed news headlines relating to political action, climate, corporate pollution, and AI data centers, reinforcing the urgency and ongoing nature of the climate change crisis. I used my nieces as models in the composition to personalize the theme and reflect my own emotional response to the issue. The work considers the legacy being left for future generations and the responsibility tied to environmental and political action.
