Scene from a friend’s farm, the old tractor owned by his great grandfather. I wanted to show a sense of depth and 3-dimensionality and the inevitability of time’s effects, but still show the strength latent in the old workhorse. The dominant color is that of rust, indicating the slow but stubborn decay of all the farm implements lying about the work-shed area. I restricted my palette to Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, and Manganese Blue, with additions of Titanium White and Lamp Black for hue and shade, respectively.
