Southward Ho

Barbara Dunn Rowe

I use a combination of thrown forms, slab forms, and detailed hand work to build the sculptures.  I use both white clays like porcelain and raku, and stoneware clays-all of which fire to cone 5.  I like to use the decorative techniques of stamping, drawing, lavage, and slip trailing to create interesting textures.  I prefer using transparent and translucent glazes that reveal the surface embellishments.
