Artist Description

Pure Ecstasy is an extension of a body of work titled Hydrocarbon Wings, this body of work is a material exploration of the entanglement between the human psyche and material world. A large portion of my process when researching this connection was in the process of finding found objects/ materials via the exploration of city streets and scrap yards. This specific piece was found during a walk through my neighborhood, I struck up a conversation with an elderly man on his porch and left the conversation with these prosthetic legs he had in his garage. I researched the psychological effect of these prosthetic as an image through an additive and reductive process until I felt like they were representing something psychologically interesting. This process resulted in Pure Ecstasy.
