kiln cast glass, unaltered found broken stones, castbronze
Artist Description
In repairing these stones, I imagine what they used to be, attempting to make whole something that has lost part of itself. I consider what the stone has experienced to end up in such a state of incompleteness. However, by replacing the missing pieces by fabricating what perhaps once was and forcing it to exist again, I am permanently trapping the stone in a broken state. I am filling in the blanks with what was imagined to be true. An attempt at compassion that traps the stone in a transition. By doing so, the stone cannot wear down the sharp, damaged edges until, though changed, it would no longer be seen as broken.
