“Paces” was based on a modern dance performance in which my daughter, Catherine, participated; it was choreographed by Rebecca Lee and performed at Furman University. I created “Paces” as an exercise for my 10 year Master Art Series classes with Hollis Chatelain (Hollisart.com) to show motion on fabric through use of color choices, fabric line and shape, and line in the quilting design. The figure with hands joined is exhibiting a movement called “Rock the Baby.”

Commercial batik fabrics plus an ivory solid cotton were pieced, appliqued, and quilted by machine.
Cotton batting and cotton backing were utilized along with seven colors of polyester thread.
