Nurture

This piece marks my first exploration of feminine forms within my work. Much of my work focuses on my identity as a woman in the South. Nurture represents the maternal aspects that are often expected of women in American society. The form of this vessel is loosely based on the ancient artwork Venus of Willendorf, as she was also a symbol for fertility and motherhood.
