“Muscovy” is an oil painting depicting just that – a Muscovy duck. Trademarked by their red skinned face and iridescent feathers, I find these particular ducks to be visually compelling. This painting – as with most of my work – is directly inspired by my own photography; the reference photo for this work came from a series I took near my friend’s house in Anderson, South Carolina. Keeping with my current fascination for the anatomy of birds, this piece is an exploration into different visual textures: iridescence, old pavement, and a wall of kudzu.
