Jim Beam 1976 Republican Decanter in Gray Frame

Kendrick Holley Creations

This piece was created by first using multiple layers of acrylic paint on the back of the frame’s glass to ensure a smooth background color. We then broke a recycled Jim Beam 1976 Republican Decanter and meticulously placed the decanter pieces on the front of the frame’s glass. We further carefully mixed and poured epoxy resin over the decanter pieces and background area. Finally, we used a flame over the entire surface area to both prevent and minimize air bubbles in the epoxy resin.

This piece uses a broken Jim Beam 1976 Republican Decanter. Whether you are left-winged, right-winged, or somewhere in between, most people can agree that our political system in America is broken. As citizens of the greatest country in the world, this issue is frustrating because we would expect to have the best political system in the world as well. On its face, our political system seems very organized and structured. However, we often feel – especially during election season – that we live in a world of complete chaos, which is exactly what this piece represents.
