My creative process begins with an impulse. Instinctively, I collect moments in nature that capture my attention. Visually inspired by natural elements, both micro and macro, I collect inspiration from their seasonal cycles, patterns, and movements: the intricately weathered bark on an old pine tree and the calm yet alerted sensations of standing deep within a forest. Overtime, this process reveals an aesthetic pattern guiding color, gesture, and form. Listening to the materials, I begin my practice of intuition: soaking, scraping, pouring, smearing, layering. I listen deeply to the surface and witness its emergence: unpredictable textures, authentic movements, visceral reactions, and vibrant depth. Intuitive connection with material and gesture is the pulse throughout my work.
