Graceful Abundance

Alana Clumeck

Oil on canvas. In this painting I painted wet on wet and purposely kept my palette color very limited. I created stencils of the shape of the trout to give consistency in the sizes, i blocked out the shape and then wiped out areas that I wanted to reflect highlights, and mid tones etc. I ,then added more paint to build form. I used a sponge to smudge out some of the trout to convey the feeling of movement. Finally slashes of green paint were flicked onto the canvas to imply reeds in the water.

As an artist born and raised in rural Western Australia, my journey is deeply intertwined with the vibrant tapestry of creativity that surrounded me from the very beginning. Growing up as the daughter of an artist and potter, I was immersed in an environment where artistry and freedom flourished effortlessly. I am deeply inspired by creation. My art is an expression of my faith captured in the natural world.

Graceful Abundance is part of a larger series called “Abundance.” It is symbolic of my faith with Jesus, a life with him is “abundance,” more than enough.I represented this idea of abundance by painting a school of trout.
