I live in western Carolina and recently experienced the impacts of Hurricane Helene on our area. I decided to create a series of paintings focusing on sunrises…both to make sure that I was up and out observing daybreak each morning, and to remind myself (and others!) that no matter how difficult life may be, the sun does indeed continue to rise. And mercies are new every day.
Frozen Rhodos depicts a snowy February morning when the sunrise appeared fiery through the tracery of the tree branches.
