I have
always been a student of art history and you may note some of this reflected in
my work, for example the Dada movement with my use of found objects, ancient
Egyptian art with the formal posing and Picasso’s African inspired art.
I also have a deep interest in Native American and along with other
indigenous
peoples art. What I find so appealing in this is that the goal of the
art is to
create a connection with the spirit world and the objects are vehicles
to that
end. I want my work to be more than just object, to have a deeper
meaning to express this idea that art is much more than object.
