There’s a large Camellia bush in my back yard that starts blooming in late winter, when everything else is still brown and weeks away from any sign of life. The Camellia blooms don’t stay on the plant for very long, but when they drop, they usually look as lovely as the first day they bloomed, and take days to turn brown. They are so vibrant and lovely, even after they’re “dead”. It brings me joy watching their lifecycles, and this image captures that bright light that they continue to be even after falling.
