When I was a child, our family trips were always taken by
car—wandering backroads and exploring as we went. We’d often pass through
forgotten towns and drive by weathered, abandoned houses. Now and then, we’d
stop to wander through the remains of a crumbling building that had once been
someone’s home. My mother would often recite Joyce Kilmer’s “The House with
Nobody in It.” I’d find myself wondering: Who had lived here? How many
generations passed through this place? What were they like? What memories were
made within these walls?

Acrylics are used on birch panel in an intuitive, physical
process—applying pigment in bold strokes, then vigorously scratching, sanding,
and removing it. Each layer affects the next—adjusted for transparency,
revealing glimpses of what came before, while shaping what follows. The result
is a dynamic interplay of color and form, where textured paths intersect like
fleeting moments.
