Deerly Beloved

I’m inspired by nature and the wildlife that lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where I reside. I love bringing animals to life in fabric, and balancing a sense of realism with the abstract and a touch of whimsy. I wanted to give these two a more playful, patchwork feel, with an unexpected mix of colorful fabrics. When they were complete, I decided to put them on a moody background to help them stand out. Flanked by two dark trees, it captured the feel of a doe and her fawn hanging out in the forest that I was aiming for.
