Artist Description
I can’t help but see screaming faces every step of the way with this. Every time I step back and look, I see them grimacing—hellmouths. Faces in the rocks. Bones and flesh. As I reflect, I see the cliff of “serenade”—this is that continued, in full view as I turned around to look at the land behind me. Flesh and bone, barren and desolate. It is the body, bare, uncovered, exposed. Eroded. Mouth and eyes chewed out by the elements—hollowed eyes. Hollows. I venture a thought—a hopeful one. Its counterpart is the side with lush vegetation. It shrouds the hollows of our soul. It softens the bones and the flesh. It protects from the sun and wind and rain. It grows. It reaches.
I am looking at the body unclothed to time—our fate. It does scream. It is looking back at me. Am I seeing my reflection?
