Canyon Voices 

Clay, a material to be shaped, a material that remembers its life as stone. Stone transformed into a canyon through rain and wind; too slow for the eye to catch in the moment but unmistakable over time.

Each of the triptych slabs became a fragment of something larger — as if a single canyon face had sheared apart and scattered, and these were three pieces recovered from the same wall. The random shaped, unglazed uneven edges are intentional because canyons are asymmetrical; broken by weather, by water, by time and erosion acting without regard for symmetry. 

Each piece has a passage of glassy, blue-green glaze breaking through the matte, unglazed stone — pools of color that resemble water caught in canyon shadow and light, their high gloss a deliberate contrast to the surrounding chalky, sun-bleached surface.The ‘voices’ are the moments a canyon isn’t just rock but reveals what moved through it, what stayed, what pooled. Arranged together, the triptych suggests a single eroded surface fractured into three fragments — a wall-mounted reflection on geologic time, weathering, and the quiet, layered “voices” left behind in stone by wind and water.
