On a technical level, this mask explores how we build a sense of movement into a static form. The use of a mask as the canvas on which to build non-human elements is something I do frequently in my art — the form of a face is so familiar to us that applying a sense of the uncanny to it is a very direct way to provoke thought and/or a reaction in the viewer.
