I’m inspired by nature and the wildlife that lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where I reside. I love bringing animals to life in fabric, and balancing a sense of realism with the abstract and a touch of whimsy. I had a lot of fun playing with color and pattern on this piece, and the result is what inspired the name, “Aurora Bearealis.” Because he looked majestic and powerful, I chose to frame him in fabric, which is not something I typically do.
