“A Walk Along Marginal Way”, depicts one of the powerful landscapes my husband and I experienced on our anniversary trip to Ogunquit, Maine. We had rented a car and traveled the east coast, stopping in Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, and Connecticut to experience nature, culture, art, and food along the way. During this particular hike, were enamored with the extreme power of the waves as they relentlessly forced their way onto the bold rocks. I began by painting the serene background beyond the beach where you can see a passing sailboat in the distance and maintained the essence of the visual observation through the middle ground before ultimately deconstructing the majestic seascape with dynamic structural lines, repetitive shapes, and bold contrast to emphasize the power we felt.
