Archival Memory Series: Midnight Field Trip

Midnight Field Trip is the 6th painting within my Archival Memory series, a collection of paintings that reference archived photos of unidentified people from an unknown time period, location and situation. As I paint this series I take on the role of an investigative as well as an artist. The process of painting becomes a tool to uncover, analyze, and document the moments prior to and after one of these archived photos were taken. These paintings are visual questions and create a rare scenario in which the artist and the viewer are experiencing the painting as a nearly lost moment preserved for the ages.
