Artist Description

This portrait of my sister examines the body as a reflection of the home: a temporary dwelling marked by time and change. The partially rendered areas of the figure represent the parts of her body that have been surgically repaired, emphasizing the ways our bodies bear the marks of living. Like the homes we inhabit, our bodies provide shelter for a season, but neither was meant to last forever. Just as we one day leave behind the places we have lived, the soul will one day leave the body, reminding us that we were created for something beyond this life.
