Oil on twelve 10×10" cradled birch panels, connected to form 40×30" painting
Artist Description
In the historic district of Summerville, SC, established in 1847, Azalea Park sits on both sides of Main Street. Summerville has been called a respite for respiratory illness, the birthplace of Sweet Tea, and it’s a place that welcomes visitors and transplants alike. Yet Summerville feels the friction of preservation versus development and tourism as do many other small towns. This work celebrates a green space carved out long ago by people who wanted it preserved for the future. What a gift.
