Ceramic Sculpture with slips, underglazes, stains, glaze and encaustic
Artist Description
My current series uses the female figure to mine human experience and emotion. The figure’s stance in this sculpture captures a feeling of vulnerability and exposure – but also resilience and quiet defiance.
The exposure of bare red clay on her right arm and the white slip covered left arm add a tension and hint at duality or an inner conflict. There is a story there – perhaps many stories – as each viewer brings their own experience to the piece.
