Medium Description
The image was originally captured on a digital camera. I touched up my reflection in the car handle in Adobe Photoshop then prepped the color separations. The final gum dichromate print was made on 300g watercolor paper using a CMYK set of digital negatives. This print was completed with six layers, CMYK + indigo/black + golden yellow.
Artist Description
I ran across this abandoned car on a long walk around Rockport, Massachusetts, last summer. I was struck by how the plant indicated how long the car must have been sitting still in that same location. I was drawn to the story of a plant, in fact, just a common weed, that had “claimed” an abandoned machine as its own as it grew inch by inch up through the handle, blocking entry and use.
