Artist Description

This work explores the psychological weight of transformation, inspired in part by the experience of building a new identity in a new country. It visualizes the process of shedding a former self in order to become someone new. The figures against the wall embody the past: the struggles, fears, and former self that must be sacrificed in order to move forward. The confrontation represents the painful but necessary friction of personal growth, the internal battle that comes with dismantling an old life. The figure walking away is the self that emerges on the other side, a survivor at peace with what was sacrificed, looking toward the future. Ultimately, the painting reflects a harsh reality: reinvention often requires ruthlessly letting go of who we once were.
