Recycled wine corks, wood, reused wine cork tabs

Artist Description

Redemption. The duality between wine corks being used to depict the Eucharist and the hands of a sinner who is changed by this sacrament shows the beauty of rebirth. The wine stained corks create a stream that chases after the wafer, falling into open hands. The corks used for the hands were specially chosen because of the holy and unholy phrasing written on them. Even the concept of drinking wine, seen sinful by some Christian denominations and yet enjoyed by others, is redeemed and made holy by what it represents and how it is used in a church setting. Contemplating these comparisons creates safe space for conversation.
