The artwork of Michael Mitchell explores the subjective experience of space and memory through phenomenology. This vast cacophony of colors and style inspired by the performance of the 843 Symphony in Florence, SC. By exaggerating and distorting the forms of his subjects, he shows how the musicians fill the space and attention. Others, including the viewer, allow themselves to dissolve in that space and give themselves to the performance. All become a field of energy projecting out into the world, and impossible to remove from it.
