As I gazed out of my sunroom early one morning, I was struck by the beautiful sunrise in front of me. I captured the vivid colors with my camera. I had begun taking basic art lessons when I photographed this image, but had not advanced to painting scenery. It wasn’t until a year later, when I felt the urge to paint this image and had experience under my belt, that I decided to go for it. I started painting with watercolors but changed to acrylics, thinking it would better represent the brilliant sky. I now have a lasting picture to share the great memories I have accumulated since my family obtained the lake house in 1966.

I originally thought about painting in watercolors, but soon realized acrylics would give a bolder effect.
