There are days that the loss pulls me under, the waves crash over me and I quite literally can. not. breathe.
The first anniversaries pass like tides and I learn to hold my breath. A song comes on the radio like an unexpected tsunami and knocks me off my feet again.
If I’m lucky, the next wave won’t knock me down as hard. If I’m even luckier, someone will be there to pull me out of the deep when it does.
